Introduction

International Corperation

To promote communications with international remote sensing experts, simultaneously improve the reputation of IRSA, international cooperation becomes one of the most important components. In according of last year record, we have foreign 95 visitors, and 89 IRSA staff visited abroad. IRSA successfully held the Fifth Digital Earth International Conference, and collaborated with CAS to hold “UN GAID: Global Alliance for Enhancing Access to and Application of Scientific Data in Developing Countries”. Many of IRSA research staff occupies important position in international organizations, for example, Prof. Gu Xingfa, the director of IRSA, is also as Vice-chairman in Executive Committee of UN GAID e-SDDC. IRSA built up multilateral cooperative relationship with Kenya, Ghana and Egypt. IRSA has cooperative relationship with Geo-informatics and Space Technology Development Agency, Thai Minister of Science and Technology. At the end of 2007, IRSA signed cooperation agreement with Universite De La Mediterranee (Aix-Marseille II). 

In 2008, IRSA established intergovernmental corperating relationship with Ministry of Education and Sciences of Kazakhstan, University of West Hungary and Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation of Australia. General Director of IRSA, Prof. Xingfa Gu became the co-chair of the Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) since 2008. Prof. Peng Gong won the AAG Remote Sensing Specialty Group (RSSG) Outstanding Contributions in Remote Sensing Award in 2008.
