CHEN Shupeng was born inFebruary 1920, died in November 2008. he is Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of Third World Academy of Sciences, Academician of International Academy of Sciences for Europe and Asia, Honorary Member of France Geographical Society, Honorary Director of LREIS, Honorary Director of Academic Committee of LREIS, research professor, Honorary Director of Institute of Remote Sensing Applications Chinese Academy of Sciences, founder of China’s RS and GIS, pioneer of geo-information science and geo-info Tupu, and founder of State Key Lab of Resources and Environmental Information System. |
He published Exploration in Geosciences (six volumes), won the second and third Prize of National Natural Science Award, many times of the first and second Prize of State Scientific and Technological Progress Award, HLHL Prize, TAN KAH KEE Earth Science Award, Thailand Bangyindraba Asian Remote Sensing Contribution Golden Award, the first Honor Prize of International Society of Karstology, and the Top Honor Prize of International Cartographic Association.
