On March 9, 2012, an early spring day, over thirty delegates from the Institution of Remote Sensing Applications (IRSA) convened at a hotel conference hall in Jiashan County, Zhejiang Province, discussing hotly the development program of IRSA in 2012 and beyond.

The participants on this three-day symposium are IRSA senior administrators including Director-General GU Xingfa, Deputy Director ZHAO Zhongming, and Deputy Director WANG Jinnian,  the heads of offices and laboratories, and the researchers.

Based on CAS “Innovation 2020” Program, and “One Positioning, Three Breakthroughs, and Five Important Fostering Directions” Program (“One Three Five” for short),  IRSA worked out its own road map for implementing its development program on this symposium.

With an eye on innovation, the main steps for implementing this program involve updating research layouts, pinpointing innovative directions, developing cutting-edging technologies, talent training, and cultivating innovative technology alliance with industry, enterprises, and the universities, therefore to accelerate the technology transfer.

At the last day of this symposium, the participants visited the Research Center for Spatial Information Technologies Applications, which was jointly established by the IRSA and the Jiashan local government in 2011, and was designed to boost spatial technology applications of IRSA in Zhejiang and Yangtze River Delta areas.
