On November 27, CAS-CTGPC (China Three Gorges Project Corporation) all-around strategic cooperation coordinating team held its third symposium in Yichang, Hubei province. Dr. Zeng Yuan from the Agriculture and Environment Sector of IRSA and her students attended this symposium.
The emphasis of this symposium was to further enhance the cooperative projects between CAS and CTGPC in the next stage, including ecological environment monitoring and assessment, engineering technology innovation and R&D, and the development of new energy sources.
At this symposium, Dr. Zeng gave a report on the progress of the project---“Greenhouse Gas Monitoring and Assessment in Three Gorges Dam”, which intended to estimate the impact of Three Gorges Project on the environment, especially on how much methane and other greenhouse gases the reservoir area emitted as submerged vegetation rotten. The preliminary research result had been adopted by CTGPC, theoretically supporting the development of its hydropower.
In the next stage, Dr. Zeng and her team will carry out the mechanism research and develop related-model on the project of “Greenhouse Gas Monitoring and Assessment in Three Gorges Dam”.
