On 15^th May, Prof. Jiancheng Shi was invited by University of Helsinki as the main respondent of the opposition to a PhD thesis defence. According to PhD defence system in Netherlands, in order to do PhD thesis defence, the thesis of a PhD student need to be examined and approved by three professors. During the oral defence, there must be an expert in the certain area from overseas. The committee of thesis defence will evaluate an applicant based on how the applicant answering Prof. Shi’s questions. On this basis, they will giving advise for whether or not to grant degree.
